The master plan for the Lujiao is based on Urbis experience in designing sustainable and liveable urban environments in Australia, China and the Middle East. Urbis has been a pioneer in bringing practical sustainability principles to China and is a founding member of ‘Australian Urban Systems’, a joint initiative between provincial governments in China and Australia.
Some key design aspects included:
- Development of two key Transit Oriented Activity Centres to the north and south of the district
- Exploration of a diverse range of housing and lifestyle opportunities including introduction of “living corridors” with recreation and public amenity opportunities as well as innovation public housing opportunities to promote affordable housing development.
- Designing an urban fabric that responds to the hilly terrain and local conditions
