In addition to preparing development application documentation for the project, Urbis was engaged to prepare expert witness services in relation to planning and urban design matters for a Class 1 Appeal Court matter to the NSW Land and Environment Court. This involved preparing initial statutory planning advice, an urban design assessment and visual analysis of the proposal. The Development Application was for 32 self-contained dwellings and associated facilities for seniors living.
Key planning and urban design issues that arose as part of the court matter related to consistency with the desired future character of the area and proposed housing density. The findings of the case ultimately confirmed that the proposal was consistent and compatible with the desired character of the area and the provisions of the LEP, demonstrating a successful outcome for the client through a collaborative effort between Urbis Planning and Urbis Design.
