Brisbane’s Chinatown Mall precinct in Fortitude Valley was in need of significant revitalisation following the deterioration of many of its key features. In collaboration with Brisbane City Council and a delegation from Brisbane’s sister city in China, Shenzhen, Urbis prepared a Master Plan for the site in late 2008.
January 2009 saw Urbis engaged as lead consultant managing the design development and construction documentation for the Mall. The $8 million redevelopment of the site was designed, documented and constructed within an extremely tight 13 months program. This required swift response times from the design team and clear buildable documentation.
