At Urbis, it is not all work and no play. We encourage staff to get active and involved. A few recent event highlights…
Australia's Biggest Morning Tea – The Cancer Council fundraiser
Urbis hosted morning tea across our Australian offices to raise money for The Cancer Council. We had many volunteers who baked up a storm or contributed goodies and the events were a huge success.
Perth freeway bike hike
Now in its 4th year, the Perth Freeway Bike Hike is a 30km / 60km bike ride along the length of Perth’s Kwinana and Mitchell Freeways.
On 16 March Erin Somers, Tim Dawkins, Jon Everett, Lorraine Thomas and Sara Stace completed the ride, with Jocelyn Baister supplying a BBQ at the end. The trains were impressively efficient for this major public event – we would willingly do it again just for the free train rides!
Melbourne’s Triathlon Team
As dawn broke across Elwood beach, twelve hopefully but nervous urbisites were ready to race their hearts out all in the name of fun . . . or team building . . . or was it just a moment of craziness? The Urbis contingent was only four teams strong this year due to such a high level of interest in the BRW triathlon across Melbourne but with three buff male teams and one amazing female team, they did the company proud.
Sydney’s Triathlon Team
Special mention must go to Paul Williams who completed his triathlon in a sensational 37 minutes, 5 seconds, however overall honours this year go to Fiona Buchan who finished the course in 37 minutes, 25 seconds, making her the 16th fastest female in this year’s event! Respect!
Brisbane’s Triathlon Team
The annual BRW Triathlon is one of the office’s most eagerly awaited athletic and social events, 18 Urbis staff participated in the event held at the Gold Coast . The highlights were, outstanding effort by everyone involved, spectacular weather and delicious BBQ afterwards. The low-lights were Natalie Hoitz’s spectacular fall off her bike and the fastest time was clocked by a non Urbis staff member!!
Perth’s Triathlon Team
Not to be outdone by the Eastern states, Urbis entered 2 teams in the Perth BRW corporate triathlon on 11 March. Urbis came first in the industry category of “Consulting and Corporate Strategy” and 25th in the corporate “mixed” gender category, placing us in the top 15th percentile! Competitors included Tim Dawkins, Alice Batts, Sara Stace and Lorraine Thomas.
Sydney Cricket Team
The annual Urbis vs Holding Redlich cricket game is one of the most eagerly anticipated Sydney sporting and social events. After having held the Cup since the inception of the competition two years ago, Urbis was comprehensively thrashed with the scorers putting down the pencils very early in the afternoon.
